FAQS

Have questions about what it’s like to work together? Check out these frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question here, click here to get in touch.

  • I am practice exclusively online at this time.

  • In a lot of ways, it is not too different from in-person therapy. It can add more flexibility with scheduling when you don’t have to account for traffic and parking!

The biggest difference is we want you in a safe space in which you feel comfortable engaging in the therapy process. That basically means: do you have enough privacy to allow to reasonable confidentiality? I have met with my clients when they were in their homes or outside their homes if it means getting to a private spot.

I will meet with you over video conference, which is available through the secure EHR I use called Simple Practice. You can also communicate with me with the messaging tool on the SP online portal.

If you have more questions about online therapy, feel free to ask them in your free consultation so you can decide if it is a good fit for you.

  • The first appointment is the one I sometimes call 'the get-to-know-you session.’ I want to have a sense of your past and your present experience. We will talk more in depth about what brought you here, as well as other main important areas of your life. Then we we discuss how we want to move forward in therapy, including any goals you have or anything else we want to focus on in the next session.

  • I generally meet with my clients for therapy once a week or every other week, depending on need and scheduling.

This can change in frequency depending on how you are feeling, changes in scheduling, or life circumstances. I have clients who I meet with less frequently as needed.

  • The amount of time that you need therapy is not exact. Though many clients notice some benefits fairly quickly, it can take some time to make the changes you may wish to see. So your progress and goals for therapy are part of an ongoing discussion that you and I have.

It can be hard to picture being fully “done,” or fully cutting of this source of support. Some of my clients after some time of working together choose to transition to less frequent appointments, such as once a month. It may be that life circumstances dictate a need to meet less frequently or to take a break and return. We will make these decisions together.

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9am-6pm EST.

  • First appointment/Intake: $200

    Individual therapy: $160 per session

  • I do take insurance!

I am in network with the following: Optum, Blue Cross Blue Shield/Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, and Quest.

If you are out of network or outside of Ohio, I pay for a service called Mentaya, which streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

    Mentaya is perfect if you:

    • Have out-of-network benefits

    • Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance

    • Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement

    • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

You can use the embedded tool on this webpage below to check your benefits or go here.

After that, here's how it works:

    1. Sign up for Mentaya: https://mentaya.co/inviteclient/valenti

    2. I will enter your sessions into the platform.

    3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.

    4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

Mentaya charges me a 5% fee per claim, which includes handling any paperwork required, dealing with denials, and calling insurance companies. It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

  • I have PSYPACT certification, which means I can see people across state lines online (PSYPACT® PARTICIPATING STATES).

My insurance coverage only works for clients in the state of Ohio. If you are an Ohio resident and using insurance, I will not be able to see you if you travel out of state.

If you are private pay or if we are using Mentaya (see “Do you take insurance?), I can see you online in any PSYPACT participating state.

  • I do offer a limited number of spots at lower cost. This has often occurred when insurance plans have a high deductible or copay.

If you would like to work together and are uncertain about cost, please bring it up on your consultation call.

If you are out of network or outside of Ohio, I pay for a service called Mentaya, to help clients use their out-of-network benefits to save money on therapy. Use this tool below to see if you qualify for reimbursement for my services.
